How to Choose the Right Replacement Vape Coil

Posted by Wholesale Coils on

Choosing the right replacement vape coil is one of the easiest ways to keep your vape tasting clean and performing properly. The wrong coil can lead to weak flavour, leaking, burnt hits, or a kit that simply does not feel right.

The first thing to check is compatibility. Coils are not universal, even when they look similar. If you use an Aspire Nautilus tank, for example, you need a coil made for that range, such as the Aspire Nautilus BVC Coils. For classic Aspire ET, ET-S, K1, K2 and CE5 tanks, the Aspire BVC 1.8ohm Coils are a better match.

MTL or sub-ohm?

Most higher-resistance coils, such as 1.6ohm or 1.8ohm options, are designed for mouth-to-lung vaping. This gives a tighter draw and works well with 50/50 e-liquids and nic salts. Lower-resistance coils are usually made for bigger vapour, higher wattage, and direct-to-lung vaping.

If you use a compact all-in-one kit, a coil like the Aspire PockeX 0.6ohm Coils can give a warmer vape with more vapour while still keeping things simple. For higher-power tanks, options such as the Aspire Cleito 120 0.16ohm Coils are designed for much higher wattage.

Check the wattage range

Every coil has a recommended wattage range. Staying within that range helps protect the cotton, improves flavour, and reduces the chance of burning the coil too quickly. If your vape tastes burnt, feels too hot, or uses e-liquid much faster than expected, the wattage may be too high.

For SMOK users, it is especially important to match the coil to the tank. The SMOK Nord Replacement Coils are made for Nord pod kits, while coils such as the SMOK TFV8 X-Baby Q2 Coils are built for a different tank family.

When should you replace a coil?

Common signs include a burnt taste, dull flavour, darker e-liquid in the tank, gurgling, leaking, or a coil that feels inconsistent even after charging your device. Heavy users may need to replace coils more often, especially with sweet e-liquids.

Before fitting a new coil, prime it by adding a few drops of e-liquid to the cotton and letting it sit in a filled tank for several minutes. Start at a lower wattage, then build up gradually. It is a small habit, but it can make a noticeable difference to coil life.
